Music at the First Congregational Church in Bristol

Musicians Needed!

We need you to offer up your musical talents in worship this summer.

The choir takes the summer off, so this gives instrumentalists, ensembles, and soloists a chance to offer their gifts during the offertory time. Bring your own instruments or use our piano in the sanctuary!

Summer musicians may be children to adults, beginners to pros.

The music ministry at FCC is integral to all we do. Our Senior Choir meets on Wednesday evening 7:00 – 8:30 to practice for Sunday Worship. Our Senior Choir is comprised of adults from a wide variety of musical backgrounds. Our music is typically uplifting, relevant, poignant and demonstrates a wide variety of styles and influences. We say “Bach and Roll!” Twice a year (Advent and Lent) we perform a special Cantata. In addition to the Adult Choir, we have a Boy’s Choir and Children’s (girls and boys) Choir which meet on Sunday morning after services during our Fellowship Hour.

Our funky “Ground Hog Day Band” which has performed for over 20 years on a Sunday close to Ground Hog Day, is well known. It gathers in all of you who may have played an instrument long ago,  still play, or are learning to play, and we celebrate our musical gifts while warding off the worst of winter! This is just another example of how musically “flexible” we are and how we celebrate our gifts!

FCC is also blessed with a number of professional and dedicated musicians who make every service alive and relevant. We have no doubt that once you experience the music in our services, from traditional hymns and new hymns, from blue grass to gospel, from Rock to Bach, you will find our music ministry to be a blessing! There is always room here for one more note, one more voice and one more way to make a joyful noise!

We also welcome music outside of our worship services.  Join us each month for our Stone Church Coffeehouse, Bristol’s volunteer-based, non-profit organization that fosters the appreciation of music based in or influenced by a wide variety of acoustic music. The mission of Bristol’s Stone Church Coffee House is to provide monthly opportunities for local, regional and international musicians to perform for, entertain, educate and interact with audiences in an affordable, handicap-accessible, family-friendly environment.
